The living homestead consists of 11 buildings, 47 acres, and five miles of walking trails to maintain. The site relies, entirely, on a group of dedicated volunteers. There are several events held on weekends, school group visits in the Spring and Fall, and Monday morning workdays.

If you or your organization are looking to give back to the community, we have the following volunteer opportunities available:

  • Administrative duties or grant writing
  • Construction and building maintenance
  • Crafts: quilting, weaving, and spinning
  • Firewood chopping
  • Furniture and historical restoration
  • Historic research and documentation
  • Historical interpreters and guides
  • Landscaping and garden maintenance
  • Library displays
  • Sewing, design and repair of historical costumes
  • Ticket sales

Put your skills and interests to work for a rewarding experience at Historic Point Basse!
