Discover the art of handcrafted soap in this immersive, hands on Modern Day Soap Making Class at Historic Point Basse. With only 6 spots available, you’ll enjoy a small, welcoming setting perfect for learning, creating, and having fun.
Spend Saturday outdoors at the Small Pavilion as you make your own hot processed soap over a wood stove—just like early homesteaders, but with modern techniques. You’ll craft a full loaf of rich, lard based soap (about eight 5 oz bars) using quality ingredients including olive oil, coconut oil, and castor oil. At registration, you’ll get the option to choose your preferred color and/or fragrance, making your batch uniquely yours.
All supplies are provided, and you’ll take home the full recipe so you can continue creating long after class ends. After your soap sets for 24 hours, return Sunday evening to cut your bars and pack them up—just bring a container, as they’ll still be soft.
Please remember to bring your lunch and refreshments.
