The meeting was called to order. Those present were Larry, Mike, Don, Johann, Skip,Bill, Ann, Luke, carl Greenway, Tom W.. Tina, Brian and Joni.
TOWN OF SARATOGA –
Supervisor Carl Greenway of the Town of Saratoga talked of a bike path they are
interested in creating. The Town of Rom wants it to be attached to Nekoosa and
Wisconsin Rapids. There is a chunk of land Saratoga has and Domtar las land. The
trail could come up through the mill land and connect at the end of the bridge by Church Ave. There is no funding at present. They are looking to see which properties would allow this. He laid out what roads this trail would go on. The trail would probably be asphalt, with a cost of about $100,000. It would go for about 8 – 9 miles. Larry suggested that we go to a Rapids meeting that is being held regarding expanding sports activities. Don suggested using our hiking trail, but no asphalt. This is just a start per
Carl. Tom asked about pea gravel on the bike trail, but he would rather stay with grass.
We would be very interested in this.
WINTER FEAST –
Brian gave some results. Sold 118 tickets. It all went well. Tom B. took a pot or
two over to Heather to see if one of them was her missing pot. Reserving tables was a good idea and will do it again next year. Scott and Laurel Hall did not make it for Winter Feast but may show up for Pioneer Fest. A discrepancy in totals taken in was discussed.
SUGAR BUSH –
Ann and Dawn will be in the house. Mike can be in the school. Larry can serve
cider in the bunkhouse. Tom B will be in the cabin. Don and Johann will be in the 3
Bay Shed and Skip will be in the barn. Joni will be at the gate. We have about 6 – 7
gal. of sap. Syrup will be for sale in the house. Larry asked about maple sugar and
making it. Tina texted Linda W about being in the schoolhouse. If we don’t have
someone in the Blacksmith Shop, Tina will ask Greg W. if he wants to do this.
Don suggested that we don’t drive on the lawn at the site right now.
SCHOOL GROUPS –
Luke talked to Paula and they need to get together with Doreen. Paula will finish
this spring, and Luke will “walk through the steps” before fall. There are about 12
groups registered so far. It was suggested that we put the kids’ candles in a paper bag with Point Basse stickers and a ticket with discount or a free next visit.
NEW MEMBERS –
There are about 10 new members. Tina and Joni will work on getting the
information for these new members.
CIVIL WAR DAYS –
Bill has access to Dave Laspa’s Civil War Uniforms, etc. he asked if there is
anything we might like to have from this collection. Mrs. Laspa wants to sell it. There was some discussion. Craig Hoffman will be President Lincoln. He will give a speech, review the troops and be available for selfies. Need accessories for kids for pictures. Skip has about 10 acres nearby for additional parking if needed.
It was suggested that we have ear plugs and have Kip at McMillan create pins
and stickers for the kids Scavenger Hunt.
Skip asked about the Girl Scout outing in March. Per Paula, since we did not hear back from them, this is not taking place. Mike made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Seconded by Tina. Meeting adjourned at 7:15 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Joni Wolf, Secretary
