The meeting was called to order at 6:00. Larry, Dawn, John, Bill, Paula, Brian, Mike, Tina, Skip, Don, Tom W., and Joni attended.

SUGAR BUSH –

We did great – we made $208 on the event.  There was a great turnout despite the weather.  Everyone loved Buckwheat pancakes and syrup.  Don had his best syrup ever.  We will do this again next year.  There was a discussion about how they made maple syrup/sugar in the past.

BOY SCOUTS –

Nothing new to add.  Skip asked about using the firepit area or having a large pit area in a different place.  Larry said they could use the firepit by the cabin this year.  Skip was thinking of something different for the future.  The boys want to sift through the black dirt from the house.  Paula said she could help with this.  The restrooms on the side of the school will be open and there will be 2 port-a-potties.  The Scouts will be making more sawhorses.  (There was a discussion regarding problems with one of the toilets in the school).  Skip is bringing in someone to show the boys how to pay for gold.  The scouts will bring friends to experience scouting.

Skip also mentioned someone connected to the Scouts who is an Archaeologist.  He can bring in a metal shed and have an area locked down for a dig.  We discussed where the Wakely house may or may not have been. Paula had more information on the house.  The Board will look at having a “dig” per Tina.

GIRL SCOUTS –

October 11 is the date they chose to be at Wakely.  They will be making candles, getting information on what girls wore back then and what they did in the household.  There will also be a night geocache.

COOKING CLASS –

No one has signed up yet.  Tom has a committee meeting next Tuesday at the schoolhouse.  Brian will bring the money out to Tom B. on the morning of this event.

CIVIL WAR DAYS –

There will be about 75 – 100 reenactors per Bill Parker.  The food truck is confirmed.  We got a quote for the port-a-potties.  We would like to reinstate a church service at Pioneer Fest and have one at this event as well.  Several pastors were mentioned.  Tina will help look for a pastor to preach.  The musicians for Saturday night’s dance are confirmed.  Larry mentioned parking – this could be a concern.  There was a discussion regarding parking.  Paula will call Lori Tenpas regarding parking by the cranberry marsh, as we did in the past.  Tina will research the Old Time Trolley to transport people from the parking areas to the site.  Maybe the old Bowling Alley on 73 (?).  Larry suggested we have people to help with parking.  Bill is looking into getting a guy who does tintype pictures.

SCHOOL GROUPS –

We have 11 groups coming in May.  One of the groups is bringing us a block of beeswax.

Paula has rules for the marquee at the Town of Saratoga.

ALFAM (Internation for MOMC) will be hosting virtual accessibility this year.

Rendezvous Events charge people to camp at the event.  This is something we can address in a couple of years.

Tina connected with a former curator, Russ Horton.  He will come and give us advice on the site.

The Historical Committee will be meeting on April and on May 29.  The May meeting will feature Bonne, Mike, Tom B., and others who can help us all learn more about the site, etc.

The display is up at the Rome library.

Tina made a motion to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Joni.  The meeting adjourned at 7:22 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Joni Wolf, Secretary
